Virginia Intermont College's head baseball coach, Josh Swain announces the hiring of Andrew Belcher as assistant baseball coach for the Cobra program.

Belcher is a 2007 graduate of VI acquiring a BA in Education K-12 in Health & PE. While working toward his degree he coached football, basketball and softball at his high school alma mater, Virginia High School.

Andrew holds many honors from high school, some which are still records such as most homeruns, season 8 and career 19, most RBI's with 42 in a season and 88 during his career and the 4th all-time batting average of .446. Following high school, Andrew attended and played baseball for the Knights of Surry Community College for one year and then transferred to King College to finish his baseball career as a player.

While at King, as a sophomore he held the NAIA record of highest batting average in the nation with a .506. Andrew also served as a graduate assistant for one year at King College with the baseball program.

In addition to his coaching duties, Belcher will also serve as the Intramural Coordinator. "We are extremely excited to have Andrew, his knowledge and love of the game will be a tremendous asset to Cobra baseball." said Coach Swain. Andrew and his wife, former Jessica Hearl, reside in Bristol, VA.
