Christine Mooberry will officially take over the head coaching position for the Montreat College Cavaliers volleyball squad on July 1st. She inherits a team that finished 6th in the Appalachian Athletic Conference last year with a 14-18 overall record and a 7-11 conference record.
Mooberry is new to the Asheville area as she transitions from the Newfane, NY, area where she founded and directed the WNY Stars Volleyball club that has earned a 48-0 record over the last four years. She also served as the head varsity coach for Newfane High School for the last six years. She amassed a 92-12 record there in the last five years as well leading the team to four consecutive Niagara-Orleans League Championships from 2004-2007
Mooberry says, "In a lot of ways, this is my dream job. I'm just excited to be doing what I love, and what God has gifted me to do full-time. The philosophy of sports at Montreat, really lines up with mine, and I'm looking forward to meeting the girls, seeing some tape of them and taking off from there."
