Week 9: AAC Basketball Players of the Week

ASHEVILLE, N.C. - Miles Long of Johnson and Xian Lopez of Brenau are the Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) Men's and Women's Basketball Players of the Week.

The league announced the awards on Monday.

This is the ninth edition of the awards for the 2021-22 season. The next set of awards will be announced on Jan. 17.

AAC Men's Basketball Player of the Week
Miles Long - Johnson - Junior - Lawrenceville, Ga.

• Averaged 30.0 points per game as Johnson went 1-1 last week.
• Scored 43 points in a 97-91 win over Bluefield, hitting 13-of-16 shots from the floor and was 6-of-7 from 3-point range.
• Had 9 rebounds, 9 assists, and 1 steal on the week as well.
• This is his first weekly honor of the season.

AAC Women's Basketball Player of the Week
Xian Lopez - Brenau - Senior - Snellville, Ga.

• Scored 19 points in helping Brenau to a 59-58 win over Tennessee Wesleyan.
• The 19 points are a career-high for Lopez.
• Went 5-for-5 from the field in the fourth quarter to help Brenau pull out the one-point win.
• Also had 7 rebounds, 1 assist, 1 steal, and 1 block.
• This is her first weekly honor of the season.
