2025 AAC Women's Volleyball Awards Announced
WALESKA, Ga. - The Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) announced the 2025 Women's Volleyball All-AAC Team and Awards on Wednesday.
Abigail Brown of Johnson is the Player of the Year, while Lydia Gustafson of Columbia International is the Defender of the Year, Marissa McMahon of Johnson is the Libero of the Year, and Ashlynn Barnes of Reinhardt is the Setter of the Year. Chloie Brinton of Pikeville is the Newcomer of the Year, and Eevy Bellar of Columbia International is the Freshman of the Year. Katie Weiss of Columbia International is the Coach of the Year, and Ethan Keung of Reinhardt is the Assistant Coach of the Year.
The awards were voted on and selected by the women's volleyball coaches of the AAC.
In 19 conference matches, Brown led the AAC in total kills (285) and kills per set (4.07) and owns a .263 hitting percentage. She also had 86 digs and 49 total blocks.
Gustafson led the conference in total blocks (96) and blocks per set (1.60) as she has amassed 25 solo blocks and 71 assisted blocks. She also averaged 1.95 kills per set in league play with a .405 hitting percentage.
McMahon averaged 5.00 digs per set in AAC play with 350 digs in 70 sets. She also served up 14 aces and had 82 assists in 19 conference matches.
Barnes posted 6.67 assists per set in 19 league matches. She had 427 assists in 64 sets and led the AAC with 39 aces. Barnes also collected 135 digs.
Brinton registered 10.55 assists per set and had 16 aces, 172 digs, and 17 blocks in 17 AAC contests this season.
Bellar led the conference in hitting percentage at .465 in 19 league games. She had 121 kills and collected 57 total blocks.
Weiss guided Columbia International to an 17-2 league record, helping the Rams to a share of the regular-season championship and the No. 1 seed.
Keung has served admirably this season for Reinhardt, helping it to a 17-2 conference mark and a share of the regular-season championship.
Fourteen players earned a spot on the All-AAC First Team, with 14 making the second team. In addition, six players make up the All-Freshmen Team. Dozens of players made the grade to earn a spot on the All-Academic Team, while 13 were named to the Champions of Character Team.
