Week 1: AAC Men's Soccer Players of the Week

WALESKA, Ga. - Gabriel Mendoza of Union Commonwealth and Ron-Jay Watson of Union Commonwealth are the Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) Men's Soccer Defensive and Offensive Players of the Week, the league announced on Monday.

This is the first edition of the awards for the 2025 season. The next set of awards will be announced on Sept. 1.

AAC Defensive Player of the Week
Gabriel Mendoza - Union Commonwealth - Graduate Student 

• Collected 16 saves on the week in helping Union Commonwealth go 1-1 on the week.
• Recorded a shutout and had 9 saves in a 1-0 win over SCAD Savannah (Ga.).
• Made 7 saves and allowed 2 goals in a 2-1 loss at NCAA Division I Northern Kentucky.
• This is her first weekly honor of the season.

AAC Offensive Player of the Week
Ron-Jay Watson - Union Commonwealth - Sophomore 

• Netted the game-winner in a 1-0 win over SCAD Savannah (Ga.).
• Fired 2 shots with 1 going on goal.
• This is his first weekly honor of the season.
