TWU Makes Way to NAIA National Championship Match
MOBILE, Ala. - Tennessee Wesleyan put together a strong showing in the NAIA Men's Tennis National Championship, finishing as the national runner-up.
The tournament was held at the Mobile Tennis Center in Mobile, Ala., May 12-16.
Tennessee Wesleyan was the lone Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) team to make the men's tournament.
Seeded No. 2, TWU received a first-round bye. In the second round, Tennessee Wesleyan defeated No. 18 seed Arizona Christian 4-0 before taking down No. 7 seed Lindsey Wilson (Ky.) 4-1 in the quarterfinal round.
Tennessee Wesleyan fell behind 1-0 in the semifinal round as No. 3 Keiser (Fla.) won the doubles point. However, TWU battled back to take the match 4-3.
In the finals, Georgia Gwinnett claimed the title, defeating Tennessee Wesleyan 4-0.
This is the second time Tennessee Wesleyan has made it to the championship round, achieving the feat in 2023.
Tennessee Wesleyan finished the season 22-3 overall.
