Gorton Takes Over St. Andrews Men's Volleyball Program

LAURINBURG, N.C. - The St. Andrews Knights have hired Henry Gorton as the new men's volleyball head coach, effective June 17, 2024.
The Spencerport, NY, native comes to the Knights program after four seasons of coaching on the Spencerport High School coaching staff (2020-2023). The team scored a sectional title every season, before going on to compete in the NYPHSAA State championships. They placed second in 2021 and 2022 and finished third in 2023.
He was also an assistant coach at St. John Fisher for one year (2023-2024).
Gorton also played four years of DII club volleyball at SUNY Brockport where he graduated in 2018 with a degree in business administration. His team was ranked one of the top-10 club teams every season of his collegiate career, including a fourth-place ranking in 2018. He led his team to an ECVA East Coast Conference championship the same year, receiving EVCA MVP honors at the season's conclusion. His playing career culminated in the 2023 and 2024 seasons in the Volleyball League of America, a professional league in its fifth season looking to develop adult men's volleyball in the USA.

The St. Andrews program is coming off a successful season, posting a 22-10, 7-5, overall record, finishing in third place in the Appalachian Athletic Conference.
