KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Life's Jan Burhardt has been named the NAIA Men's Volleyball Defender of the Week after being a strong presence at the net across two matches. The freshman middle blocker was the centerpiece of Life's front-line defense, piling up 14 total blocks and block assists on the week and consistently disrupting opposing attacks with his timing and reach.
Burhardt's impact was immediate in Life's March 4 win over Benedict College, a four-set victory in which he posted nine total blocks, including eight block assists, while adding seven kills on a .333 hitting percentage. He followed that performance on March 7 at Emmanuel (Ga.), where Life fell in four sets, but Burhardt again anchored the defense with five total blocks and contributed 10 kills while hitting .368.
Across the week, Burhardt totaled 17 kills on 34 attempts for a .353 attack percentage and added nine digs to his stat line.
