Hutchins Takes Over TWU Cross Country, Track & Field Programs

ATHENS, Tenn.- Vice President and Director of Athletics announced the hiring of the new head coach of the men's and women's cross country and track and field programs. Adrian Hutchins will guide the programs into the future.
I am incredibly honored and humbled to accept the position as head cross country and track and field coach at Tennessee Wesleyan," said Hutchins. "First and foremost, I give all glory to God for ordering my steps and opening this door. This opportunity is a blessing, and I do not take it lightly. I want to express my deepest gratitude to the administration and athletic department for their belief in my vision and leadership. Tennessee Wesleyan has a proud tradition, and I am excited to build upon that foundation with a culture rooted in discipline, hard work, and faith."
Hutchins comes to TWU from NCAA Division III school Emmanuel University in Georgia, where he served as the head coach of the track and field program for three seasons. As head coach, the team broke 22 school records and produced a standout long jumper who finished 13th in the nation in both the U20 division and NCAA Division II. Before serving as head coach, Hutchins was an assistant coach for the program for three seasons. During his time at Emmanuel, Hutchins helped the program achieve multiple championship appearances and All-Region titles, including coaching three All-Americans. Hutchins helped develop three conference champions in the High Jump, 100m Dash, 200m Dash, and 400m Race.
Hutchins started his coaching career as an assistant women's track coach at Bemidji State University in 2016, helping the team set multiple school records and top finishes at the conference meet.

Outside of coaching, Hutchins has served as an Impact Specialist with Growing Leaders, having worked with teams across Major League Baseball, the National Football League, and the NCAA to help athletes grow in leadership and character.
A native of Lima, Ohio, Hutchins graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration from Tiffin University in 2016. Hutchins jumped for the track and field program from 2011-2016. In his final season, Hutchins won a national championship with the team. Hutchins was named an All-Academic All-American First Team in 2015.
