BOWLING GREEN, Ky. - No. 3 seed Tennessee Wesleyan used a four-run sixth inning to propel itself to the NAIA Softball World Series as it held off top-seeded Central Methodist (Mo.) 8-7 to win the NAIA Opening Round - Bowling Green Bracket on Wednesday.
The Bulldogs are making their first-ever trip to the NAIA Softball World Series.
Tied at 4-all, Tennessee Wesleyan rallied for four runs to take an 8-4 lead. Courtney Sneed got it started when she drove in a run with a sac fly, and Haley Hinshaw followed with a two-run double before scoring on an Allee West single.
Tennessee Wesleyan needed all four of those runs as Central Methodist cut the margin to 8-7 thanks to a Madison White three-run home run. But the Eagles could not find the equalizer as the Bulldogs punched their ticket to the NAIA Softball World Series.
Hinshaw finished with three RBI, while Loryn Sherwood added two.
