KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Brenau sophomore post Jael Flinn has been named the NAIA Women's Basketball Defensive Player of the Week after delivering a strong two-game stretch anchored by elite rebounding and rim protection.
Flinn set the tone on Feb. 4 in a 72–68 win over Columbia (S.C.), turning in a career-best performance on the glass with 24 rebounds to go with a career-high five blocks. She added 12 points while logging 39 minutes, repeatedly erasing second-chance opportunities and controlling the paint in a tight contest. Her impact was felt possession after possession as she pulled down 18 defensive rebounds and six offensive boards, giving Brenau extra chances while limiting Columbia's.
She followed that with another overwhelming defensive outing on Feb. 7 in an 89–30 win over CIU (S.C.). In just 25 minutes, Flinn recorded her second double-double of the week with 16 points and 18 rebounds and added two more blocks. Even with reduced minutes, she maintained the same physical presence, finishing with 14 defensive rebounds and four offensive rebounds while remaining efficient and disciplined.
Across the week, Flinn averaged 14 points, 21 rebounds, and 3.5 blocks per game, totaling 42 rebounds and seven blocks in two starts. She also contributed two assists, and her defensive production helped Brenau secure back-to-back wins, including a decisive 59-point victory.
