KANSAS CITY, Mo. - SCAD Atlanta junior Holly Lau stormed back to beat six NAIA top 10 individuals at the Lady Roadrunner Spring Invite, hosted by Dalton State (Ga.), firing a final-round 69 to complete a one-stroke win, and on April 8, she was named NAIA Women's Golfer of the Week.
In a field that featured the top three individuals in the NAIA, as rated by Clippd, plus the Nos. 6, 7, and 9 players, Lau was 2-over par across three rounds to win in a field of 89 golfers.
Lau, from Pretoria, South Africa, had a clean card in her final round, making eight-consecutive pars before a birdie at the par-3 ninth for a front-nine 35. She had two more birdies - at No. 13 and a dramatic winner at No. 18 - to shoot 34 on the back nine, marking the final round in 3-under par over her final 18 holes.
The win was a come-from-behind effort, as Lau shot 76 in the opening round before settling in for a one-over 73 in the next 18 holes.
Lau's win helped SCAD Atlanta finish fourth, five shots back of a three-way tie for first between SCAD Savannah (Ga.), William Carey (Miss.), and host Dalton State.
SCAD Atlanta is back on the course next week, at the Music City Classic in Old Hickory, Tenn., at Hermitage Golf Course.
