TWU Advances to NAIA Women's Tennis National Championship Semifinal Round
MOBILE, Ala. - The Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) was represented well at the NAIA Women's Tennis National Championship with Tennessee Wesleyan advancing to the semifinal round and SCAD Atlanta going 1-1.
The tournament was held at the Mobile Tennis Center in Mobile, Ala., May 12-16.
SCAD Atlanta, the No. 12 seed, won its opener 4-1 over Oakland City (Ind.) but fell in the second round 4-3 to No. 5 seed Xavier (La.).
Tennessee Wesleyan entered as the No. 3 seed and received a first-round bye. In the second round, TWU moved past No. 14 seed Goshen (Ind.) 4-1 before defeating No. 11 seed Loyola (La.) 4-0 in the quarterfinal round. Tennessee Wesleyan fought hard in the semifinal round, but No. 2 seed Lindsey Wilson (Ky.) recorded the 4-1 decision.
This marks the second year in a row that Tennessee Wesleyan made the semifinal round and the third time in the past four years.
