Two Records Set on Day 1 of the Outdoor Track & Field Championship Meet
JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. - A pair of records were set on the opening day of the 2025 Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) Outdoor Track & Field Championships.
The three-day event is held at Tipton Stadium in Johnson City, Tenn.
Milligan shattered the record in the men's 4x800 relay as the team of Sylas Chambers, Luis Peralta, Carter Windham, and Bryn Woodall finished in a time of 7:32.36, besting the old mark by over 16 seconds.
Heather Murphy of Montreat set a new record in the women's 10,000, crossing the line in 36:58.35 to edge the previous mark by 12 seconds.
In the team competition, Milligan holds a slim lead over Montreat in the men's field. Milligan ended the day with 36 points, with Montreat checking in at 34. Reinhardt (27), Tennessee Wesleyan (22), and Bryan (22) round out the top five.
The margin is even slimmer in the women's field with Montreat (33) up one point over Milligan (32). Brenau (27), Reinhardt (25), and Columbia International (22) round out the top five.

- Men's 400 hurdles: Brayden Simpson, Milligan (53.88)

- Women's javelin: Abigail Cruz, Reinhardt (36.78 meters)
- Women's high jump: Jennaya Coucoules, Brenau (1.60 meters)
- Men's javelin: Ethan Rice, Reinhardt (54.19 meters)
- Men's high jump: Phillip Drake, Bryan (2.00 meters)
