Montreat Posts Top 10 Finish; AAC Collects 8 NAIA All-American Honors
MARION, Ind. - Montreat recorded a top-10 finish at the 2025 NAIA Women's Outdoor Track & Field National Championship, which was held at Indiana Wesleyan University in Marion, Ind., on May 21-23.
Montreat racked up 26 total points to land eighth overall. Heather Murphy led the charge for the Cavaliers as she earned a pair of NAIA All-American honors. She placed second in the 10,000 with a time of 34:35.49 and wrapped up the meet with a third-place showing in the 5000 (16:56.40).
Dylan Garcia and Jessica Gakeria also posted third-place finishes for Montreat. Garcia was third in the 1500 (4:27.10), and Gakeri was third in the triple jump (12.32 meters).
Here is where the rest of the AAC teams placed:
- Milligan - tied for 31st (8 points)
- SCAD Atlanta and Truett McConnell - tied for 58th (3 points)
- Columbia - tied for 64th (2 points)
Like Murphy, Myesha Hall of Truett McConnell received multiple All-American honors, placing seventh in the long jump (5.63 meters) and eighth in the triple jump (12.08 meters). Also earning All-American accolades were Katie Clarke of SCAD Atlanta (sixth in the 10,000, 35:33.01); Mackenzie Pringle (seventh in the triple jump, 12.12 meters); and Ellen-Mary Kearney of Milligan (second in the 1500, 4:23.10).
