WILLIAMSBURG, Ky. - The top-seeded teams advanced in the first of the 2025 Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) Women's Lacrosse Tournament on Thursday.
Fourth-seeded Tennessee Wesleyan held off No. 6 seed Truett McConnell for an 11-9 win, while No. 3 seed Georgetown. rolled to a 30-2 win over No. 6 seed Montreat.
The three-day tournament is being held on the campus of Cumberlands in Williamsburg, Ky.
Olivia Downey scored four goals for Tennessee Wesleyan, with Jozlyn Long and Kate Buchanan each posting a hat trick. The Bulldogs led 11-6 in the fourth before Shelby Nail closed the game with three goals to pull Truett McConnell within two. But it was not enough as Tennessee Wesleyan prevailed.
Nail finished with five goals for the Bears.
Aubree Lair tallied nine goals and an assist for the Tigers, while Maddie Diaz collected eight goals and five assists. Melanie Wieland chipped in four goals and five assists.
Tennessee Wesleyan will face No. 1 Reinhardt in the semifinal round, while Georgetown will take on No. 2 Cumberlands.
